About our cause

Stand With Us - For Dignity, Compassion, and Care

Gyina yɛn ho - ma nipa nyinaa nya adɔe ne anigye wɔ wɔn awiei mu

Introduction

COMPASS-Ghana enables the training, support, and services that care for people who are dying - regardless of age, gender, or faith - and for the families who carry the sorrow of loss. By playing the lottery, you can win, while helping bring dignity and compassion at a time that touches every Ghanaian family deeply.

Our Story - Why We Exist

In Ghana, we honour our elders. We support our families. We stand with our neighbours. And we believe no one should reach the end of their life in pain, fear, or alone.

But across many rural communities, people still die without comfort, guidance, or relief - and families carry that burden in silence.

COMPASS-Ghana was created to change this, the Ghanaian way - with compassion, respect, and community at the centre.

We are a Ghanaian-led UK charity and Ghana NGO, working with hospitals, nurses, Queen Mothers, elders, and community leaders to bring dignity and care to people at the end of life.

Why This Matters to Every Ghanaian

Death comes to every home. And when it comes, every family needs strength, comfort, and someone to guide them.

For the diaspora, supporting COMPASS-Ghana is not about helping strangers. It is about standing with our own people - our mothers, fathers, aunties, uncles, neighbours - and living out the values we were raised with: care, dignity, and compassion to the very end.

Together, we can make sure no Ghanaian suffers alone.
Together, we can build a service that brings peace, dignity, and hope across Ghana.

Where We Work - And How We Grow

Our work began in the Ashanti Region, reaching families who have never had support at the end of life. Now, with your help, we are growing region by region, strengthening local services and bringing care to places that have been forgotten for too long.

Your lottery support keeps this journey going.

Why Your Lottery Ticket Matters

In Ghana, we honour our elders, care for our neighbours, and stand with our families.

Yet many still face their final days in pain, without support, or far from home.

A Patient Story

Recently in Asamang, our team met a young woman at the end of her life, who had travelled for hours in severe pain, terrified, overwhelmed and exhausted. Her family did everything they could, except provide the pain relief and comfort she so desperately needed.

With COMPASS-Ghana’s support, she received that relief from pain, loving compassionate care, and the chance to spend her remaining time in peace, not in agony, not on the road, nor alone. Moments like these are made possible because of people like you.

Your lottery ticket helps us to support:

  • £20: Provides morphine solution to ease severe end-of-life pain
  • £30: Helps a nurse to bring care directly into a family’s home
  • £50: Supports the training of a Ghanaian clinician in palliative care
  • £100: Strengthens community-based services, ensuring home visits and support

Every £1 ticket helps protect our values: compassion, dignity and care.

Play for Compassion - and Play to Win

This Christmas, Your Ticket Brings Peace

The need for palliative care grows every day.

Through the Giving Lottery, you can help provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time - bringing dignity and peace into Ghanaian homes when it matters most.

Medaase Thank You

To the Ghanaian diaspora and friends of COMPASS-Ghana - medaase paa.

Your kindness protects our values, strengthens our communities, and brings comfort to people at their most vulnerable.

Together, we are building something that will last -
comfort for the dying, support for families, and dignity for all.

This is about tradition, love, and showing up when it matters most. We are doing this the Ghanaian way - with respect, with courage, and with care.”
