About our cause

Apollo needs your help to keep transforming lives. We are a mental health charity who use the proven power of music and the arts to improve well-being. With all projects and performances provided free at point of service, we need your help to cover our costs and to continue.

We provide music in hospital through Health in Harmony, our project delivered in Birmingham Children's Hospital and Birmingham Women's Hospital every week of the year. This includes a partnership with Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, providing training and work placement opportunities for young musicians of the future.

Our Apollo Academy Youth Orchestra project is for young people aged 11-25 and provides a high-quality peer-led music project. With mental health support on site at every session and in between remotely, we support our young people in a holistic way. Many face significant barriers to attendance and our inclusive safe-spacee provides them the chance to share their love of music. Uniquely, our young mentors make all the decisions, which led to the design and launch of our incredibly successful Family Concert Series. Providing regular relaxed concerts, again free at point of service, to provide access to high-quality musical performances to everyone in our community. These concerts always sell out, including our two performances of The Snowman film with live orchestra in December 2024.

We provide two regular projects for children - Apollo Children's Drama and Apollo Junior Academy. With mental health trained staff, an inclusive ethos and provision free to attend, we provide a unique service to our members, over half of whom have SEND, long-term  health conditions or face other barriers to attendance. For summer 2025 we are launching Apollo Well-being Cafe, our response to the needs of children and young people in our community to regular well-being and emotional support groups. By providing a safe-space and optional activities to support skill development, self esteem, and well-being we hope to reach many more young people in distress in our community.
